Indoor tanning clients are much less likely to sunburn outdoors as compared to spray tanning clients, according to owners of professional indoor tanning facilities polled in December.

Nearly 5 out of 6 tanning facility owners believe that spray tanners sunburn more often outdoors than sunbed users, according to a SmartTan.com poll conducted in December. According to the poll, 82 percent believe spray tanning clients sunburn more outdoors as compared to UV tanning clients. Only 18 percent disagreed.

“While everyone warns spray tanning clients that a spray tan doesn’t provide the protection against sunburn that a UV tan does, it’s clear that UV tanners are better protected,” Smart Tan Vice President Joseph Levy said. “We still believe that our sunbed clients are also better educated at sunburn prevention too.”
