Sunbed Saves Salon Owner in Tornado

Tuesday, December 27th, 2011

April 27, 2011: A Georgia salon owner — who had only been open for business for three weeks — found safety by hiding with her two daughters inside a closed sunbed as a killer tornado ripped apart the rest of her salon, and much of her town.

Lisa Rice, owner of S&L Tans in Trenton, Georgia, looked out her salon window to see the tornado ripping apart main street Wednesday afternoon — one of many tornadoes that have torn apart southern cities in storms this week, killing hundreds. “We had already made plans that if something happened, we were gonna’ get in the tanning bed,” Rice told NBC News.

And the wind kept blowing and then finally it calmed down, and we got out and climbed out of the building,” Rice told NBC.
