Nearly one-in-three tanning businesses have increased the amount of UV tanning equipment in their stores in the past two years, according to a SmartTan.com poll.

According to the poll, twice as many stores say they have added additional UV equipment compared to the number who have reduced their equipment total. Thirty-one percent of stores say they have more equipment today, while just fifteen percent have down-sized, according to the poll. The majority, fifty-four percent, have not changed the number of units in their stores.

“There are still stores increasing their UV tanning options — and that is another sign that there are plenty of success stories in the UV tanning market today,” Smart Tan Vice President Joseph Levy said. “As the economy pushes in the right direction, we think you will continue to see tanning businesses who will be in position to grow with increasing consumer demand for tanning services.”

This SmartTan.com poll’s directional findings are consistent with the results of other polls conducted in the past six months.
