Senators Try to Postpone Health Care Reform

Monday, February 7th, 2011

On January 31 a U.S. District judge ruled the new health care law unconstitutional. Now, three senators have introduced a bill to postpone implementation of the law until further litigation is settled, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.senators

Two republican senators from Kansas, Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran were joined by Kay Baily Hutchinson, R – Texas, in drafting the bill they called the Save our States Act. The bill follows an attempt to repeal the health care law which failed to pass the senate last week.

“Given the ever-growing number of problems and new costs associated with the law, it makes sense to suspend implementation immediately until we get a final resolution from the judicial review,” Roberts said in the article.

The senate did pass a repeal of the 1099 rule, which required businesses to file a 1099 tax form for every business they spent more than $600 at.

If the S.O.S. Act does become law it could mean a postponement of the excise tax on tanning as well. For now however, continue to pay your taxes and check back with Smart Tan for more updates as the story unfolds.
