Inspired Ideas: Tracy Ring, New Sunshine

Tracy Ring is the vice president of U.S. sales for New Sunshine and has been with the company for 19 years. With more than 23 years of sales and leadership experience, Ring helps the brand of families in their mission to grow our industry. With an eye on the bigger picture, she gives us a look at the effect of New Sunshine’s latest undertakings.

Q: What do you think will be the effect of the new Kardashian line of tanning products?

A: The Kardashian line isn’t just a game changer for New Sunshine and our salons, but for the industry as a whole. Everybody absolutely knows who the Kardashians are. They reach millions of people and will show the good side of tanning.

Combined, their Facebook likes are over 23 million, and more than 31 million on Twitter — when you add them together, the Kardashians beat Lady Gaga for the number one spot! By herself, Kim is number nine or 10 on Twitter. We invested a lot of money in this, and we are just hoping to get more tanners to come in the door — whether they are buying our products or not, it helps our industry overall. This is good for very channel of distribution, including our competition.

Q: How has your partnership with JWOWW performed compared to your expectations?

A: When we signed JWOWW, our brand manager didn’t know who she was, but our customers sure did. New Sunshine is constantly looking at how we can stay a step ahead and grow the industry. Our original forecast was that we’d sell 25,000 units, but we sold millions of units of JWOWW, and it completely exceeded our expectations.
