The American Suntanning Association is currently working on 31 state tan ban bills in 23 states, and lobbyists have been engaged in every state where bills are in play or being introduced.

The ASA has collected and organized significant scientific data for this year’s battles and is recruiting salon owners to get involved with legislation in their respective states. Live webinar lobbying training and extensive lobbying kits are being offered by the ASA to those who wish to get involved.

“Considering the short length of time given for the transition of all tanning salon association responsibilities, the ASA is on top of all major issues,” says executive director Tracie Cunningham. “In limited time in operation, we’ve already been able to improve the industry’s lobbying process by developing new relationships, gathering all the information to support our position and involving salon owners at the state level.”
