TanningBooth, a new iPhone application, allows users to give their photos a beautiful bronzed tan, according to an article on iPadmodo. The app, on sale for 99 cents, is available for the iPhone and soon the iPad as well. The app lets users select from a range of skin tones to transform any picture into a glowing portrait.

However, the developer is warning users about some unintended side effects, “TanningBooth effects that may leave you with an abnormally ‘hot’ picture, don’t be alarmed if you get extra ‘likes’ on Facebook or ‘followers’ on Twitter than normal.”

The indoor tanning business community is already aware of the “hot” effect of sporting bronzed skin, so the warning should come as no surprise.

There could be some great ways for salons to use this app. For example you could use it to show customers how great they would look with a darker complexion or to help them set skin tone goals.
