19 of 20 Salons Have a Facebook Page: Poll

In a recent SmartTan.com poll, 95 percent of indoor tanning businesses said they have a company Facebook page.

The SmartTan.com poll was an on-line survey, which may skew the results higher. But the highly directional findings paint a pretty clear picture.

Facebook has become an indispensable part of every business’s online presence, and while other social media have gained popularity, with 1.2 billion monthly active users it’s still the best place to reach the most potential customers online. Recent research from Business Insider underscores that point, showing that U.S. users spend 114 billion minutes a month on Facebook, compared to just 8 billion minutes for Instagram and 5.3 billion for Twitter.

That report also showed that Americans now spend an average of 37 minutes a day on social media, making it the number one Internet activity. So, it’s no surprise that a previous SmartTan.com poll, found that more than half of salons consider social media to be their most successful marketing method.
