Help the ITA Make Your Voice Heard

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

The Indoor Tanning Association has been working tirelessly to make the indoor tanning business community’s voice heard by your elected officials and now they are giving you a chance to participate. On May 3rd – 4th the ITA will be hosting multiple events that will not only inform you about legislative issues happening around the country but also give you an opportunity to meet with members of the new Congress.itacongress

“We want to give people the opportunity to talk about their business and help define our industry for the new Congress,” says John Overstreet, Executive Director for the ITA.

To kick off the events on Tuesday, the ITA will hold a second-quarter board meeting at the Akin Gump law offices. After the meeting, there will be an informative planning session on meeting protocol, talking points and key messages to get you up to speed for the Capitol Hill meetings the next day.

Tuesday evening, a Political Action Committee fundraiser/reception will be held at the Capitol Hill Club with a special guest from Capitol Hill.

On Wednesday morning, ITA members and Salon owners will gather on Capitol Hill for meetings with legislators and congressional staff. Three to four meetings will take place throughout the day with breaks in-between, allowing participants to catch their breath and congregate in a central meeting area. The final meeting will conclude by 3 p.m., leaving plenty of time for evening flights or drives home.

These meetings will give you a chance to humanize your business to elected officials by putting a face on your business. They will also give the indoor tanning business community an opportunity to discuss with legislators the harmful effects of the excise tax on tanning and upcoming FDA actions that could negatively affect your businesses.

If you are looking for a place to stay, the ITA has reserved a block of rooms in the historical district of Alexandria at the Holiday Inn. Transportation will be provided for travel to and from the different events.

Please contact the ITA at 202-367-1142 or visit theITA.com for more information about the events and how you can reserve a room.
